Bord Bia – Irish Food Board is responsible for the development of new markets and the promotion of Irish food, drink and horticulture products internationally. The role of Bord Bia is to act as a link between Irish food, drink and horticulture companies and existing and potential customers.

Bord Bia’s main activities include international trade development, promotional campaigns, implementation of quality assurance programmes and the provision of information to suppliers and buyers. We work with trade buyers from all over the world to help identify and satisfy sourcing requirements.

Swift is proud to have a BRC Grade AA+ facility. The BRC Global Standard for Food Safety began in the UK to help the food industry meet legislative requirements of the EU General Product Safety Directive and the UK Food Safety Act. Since that time, the Standard has received global recognition with over 20,000 certified sites worldwide. The Standard is a Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognised certification.

As one of Ireland’s most enduring and recognisable symbols, Guaranteed Irish helps consumers identify products and services which are#AllTogetherBetter choices for Irish communities. We’re supported by 550+ homegrown and international businesses across Ireland. Swift is proud to the supported by the European Structural & Investment Fund who support economic development across the European Union. These Funds make up over half of the European Union’s budget. Here in Ireland these funds will be used, together with Irish Government and Local Authority funding, to invest over 2014-2020 period.

The Funds work together to invest in education, research and job creation to help create a sustainable and healthy economy across the whole of the country. They are also spent on protecting our environment, and on supporting rural and coastal communities.

Swift has several funds through to 2020 for Key Managers, Research & Development (R&D) as well as graduate recruits.

KEY MANAGERS

Project Description:

Both Key managers have been co-funded in this company by the European Development fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims:

To Recruit Key Managers who will bring skills into the company that are critical to future growth.

Results:

The first Key Manager commenced employment in February 2018 and is contributing to improvements in company compliance with Food Legislation to meet defined market requirements. The second Key Manager commenced employment in January 2019 and is contributing to improvements in the development and implementation of company strategy to improve sales volume and profitability.

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

Project Description:

R&D has been co-funded in this company by the European Regional Development Fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims:

To develop chilled & frozen products which command a premium price in existing & new markets.

Results:

Stillorgan Trading Post are working on the development of new gourmet dishes using new cooking processes,
extending shelf life and improving freezing techniques in order to access new markets.

GRADUATES

Project Description:

An NPD Chef has been co-funded in this company by the European Development fund and Enterprise Ireland under the Border, Midland and Western Regional Operational Programme 2014-2020.

Aims:

To recruit an NPD Chef to assist the development of a wider range of new meals for the European market & also assist in sourcing improved ingredients & packaging

Results:

The NPD Chef has commenced employment & is already contributing to improvements in newly developed meals.
